California bearing ratio Method:

The California bearing ratio (C.B.R) of a soil which varies from 0 to 100 percent, 
gives an idea about the quality of a material compared to that of an excellent base 
material for which the California bearing ratio (C.B.R) is assumed to be 100 percent.
There are many versions of California Bearing ratio method of the flexible pavement design. Almost every agency that makes use of it has modified the testing procedure, the design curve or both. Due importance has been given by certain codes and standards to account for differences in annual rainfall, position of ground water table, frost action, sub-grade drainage conditions and traffic. The Wyoming method recognizes all these factors and so has been presented first. It is then followed by the procedure laid down by ASSHTO standards.
